The “Veryone” Project:

“Veryone, self-portrait of Everybody the Artist” allows participants to see themselves as part of a collective reflection, finding their identity within the shared experiences of others. It emphasizes the idea that we are all interconnected and that our individual reflections contribute to a larger, communal portrait. Participants bring their unique colors, stories, and visions, which are then blended into shared, communal reflections.

Exhibitions and Impact

"Veryone" has been exhibited at various institutions and events, including the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts (2023) and Pride in Little Falls, NY (2023). Participants engage with the live streaming mirror, reflecting on the question "Who do I see?" with broadcasts to social media and edited compilations for gallery display. This ongoing exploration of collective identity and self-reflection continues to inspire and connect people, showing that our true beauty and identity lie in our shared humanity.

Self-Reflecting in Collective Identity:

Since 2023, Everybody the Artist has been inviting people to look into the mirror and ask the question, “Who do I see?”

SOMETIMES WE SEE OUR INDIVIDUAL SELVES...

When we look into the mirror, we see the unique features, expressions, and subtle details that make up the familiar faces we see looking back at us. This initial reflection plays a crucial role in our self-perception, but there's more to our identity than what meets the eye.

BUT WHEN WE LOOK DEEPER INTO THE MIRROR, SOMETHING TRULY PROFOUND HAPPENS…

As we continue to look, our layers start to unfold. We see not just the physical but the emotional and psychological facets of ourselves. Participants reflect on their bravery, resilience, and the struggles they’ve overcome. They speak of their spirit and capacity for change, recognizing the transformations they undergo and the strength they find within.

WE BEGIN TO SEE a COLLECTIVE IDENTITY...

“Veryone” shows us that our reflections are not isolated. In the mirror, we begin to see the faces of our friends, our family, and even strangers. We start to understand that our identities are intertwined. Our shared experiences, communal struggles, joys, passions blend together, becoming one story.

in A SHARED REFLECTION…

Through live streaming and gallery exhibits, “Veryone” captures moments of individual self-reflection that contribute to a larger, evolving communal portrait of our collective identity. It’s a powerful reminder that while we may start by seeing ourselves, we ultimately see each other. In this shared reflection, we find a deeper understanding of who we truly are, with and thru others.

WE LEARN THAT OUR TRUE IDENTITY is shared!

By reflecting the faces and stories of everyone, “Veryone” reveals the essence of who we truly are — we are reflections for each other.
